NBYC Wroxham - 27th May 2018

Our second concert of the week-end. This time celebrating the 80th Birthday of the Norfolk Broads Yacht Club at their club house on Wroxham Broad. The threat of rain and strong gusts of wind forced us to play inside at this lovely venue on the edge of the broad.

'Spring Concert' Stalham - 26th May 2018

Another great night performing to a very appreciative audience in the lovely St Mary’s Church.

Presentations Neatishead 4th & 8th May 2018

On Friday 4th May Sam was presented with a small plant to remind her of us all as she takes a short break from banding and on Tuesday 8th May at our AGM Lauren was presented with a trophy as the most improved young player of the year. Very well deserved Lauren and come back soon Sam.

Wymondham Abbey - 5th May 2018

We were joined by the Mulbarton Community Choir and the Mulbarton Primary School Choir for this joint ‘Spring’ concert. What a fantastic evening it was playing to a packed audience of well over 200 people and the acoustics in the Abbey are fantastic. A representative from the Abbey said it was the biggest concert there for many, many years. Both choirs and the band all gave excellent performances on the night and we look forward to our next reunion in November at Hethersett.

Publicity Banner presentation Neatishead - 24th April 2018

We are pleased to announce that Castle Promotions has become the band’s latest sponsor. The owner, Tony Collins, has presented us with a publicity banner donated by his company. St George's Dinner Neatishead - 21st April 2018

'Sausage and Mash' dinner at our home in New Victory Hall, Neatishead. Great night of flag waving appreciated by a full hall of local residents. Thanks to the ladies that prepared the meal it was excellent.

Area Contest Stevenage - 17th March 2018

Team Wherry attended the area contest and had a fantastic day. The result of our performance was very mixed with 4barsrest.com (a website covering all things brass banding) placing us 3rd but the official adjudicators placing us 14th. Hard to understand the difference but we can’t change it. Eddie and the players all agreed they gave it their very best on the day and have no regrets about their performance. Now to our concert season, with all the players from yesterday, this is already looking to be busy.

Contest Reheasal - Wroxham F.C. - 12th March 2018

Team Wherry return to the home of the Wherrymen (Wroxham Football Club) for a pre contest rehearsal. Many thanks to all at the club for making us so welcome again.

Training Day - Neatishead - 17th February 2018

We have had a wonderful journey through the Alps today with Adam Cooke the Director of Music with the Championship GUS Band and Norwegian Stavangar Brass Band. Adam spent most of the day covering different aspects of our test piece for the Area Contest in Stevenage next month ‘Napoleon in the Alps’ and the players had a great day learning from a brilliant young musician. The members provided a buffet lunch and the day came to an end with Adam joining us in the local White Horse for a meal. Thanks Adam from us all

Academy Band Bowling, Norwich - 8th January 2018

Steve took the Academy Band bowling in Norwich for the evening. We have no pictures of the action but during the evening young Joe was presented with the 'Most improved Player of the year award' and his mum Lorraine came second. The result was determined by a vote of all the Academy members.

Great British Railway Journeys - Shown 1st January 2018

Finally we are able to show all the pictures taken with the BBC back in July at the Norfolk Wherry Trust. We all really enjoyed the experience of working with a team of true professionals. The whole crew live together while out on location using the same hotels and eating places as the ‘star’ of the show Michael Portillo. Whatever you think of Michael’s politics he came across as a really nice person on the day just as he does on his films.

Last reheasal 2017, Neatishead -19th December 2017

Our final rehearsal of 2017, following a busy and exiting year, took us to the Alps for our first rehearsal of the test piece for the area contest next March. The piece ‘Napoleon on the Alps’ will be played by all the band’s in our section (3rd) throughout Britain in their area contests. The rehearsal ended with a very relaxing ‘hot mulled wine and nibbles’ session to send us all off to prepare for Christmas. HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

Academy Christmas Concert - 15th December 2017

For their final event of the year before a well earned break for Christmas, the Academy Band were again joined by the youngsters from the Neatishead Primary School Choir for a Christmas Concert at our home in the magnificent New Victory Hall.

R.A.F.A. Concert Stalham - 13th December 2017

In the middle of a particularly cold spell, a reasonable size audience where thrilled by this year’s Christmas musical offerings. A surprise set by our own Academy Band was also really well received. Beris, who is recovering from major surgery, introduced the presentation of the John Barry Memorial Shield which was presented to Debbie Kemp by Eddie.

Stalham Christmas Tree Festival - 2nd to 10th December 2017

Now in its 12th year and getting bigger each time. This year 72 applications have been accepted. Open daily from 10 - 4 and until 8 on Friday when mince pies and mulled wine will be available

Christmas Dinner at Rishi's - 24th November 2017

This year the band decided to have their Christmas Dinner at Rishi's Indian Restaurant in Norwich. We had a really great night, which for some started mid afternoon. Good food – great company. Look at the pictures and see for yourself!!

Remembrance Concert Martham - 10th November 2017

Returning to Martham for the 6th Remembrance Concert. Not too many changes from previous years apart from the Primary School is now an Academy and we have Eddie our new Director of Music. The children enrich the evening with their excellent singing and reading, all done with striking clarity.

'Joy of 2017' Concert Neatishead - 6th October 2017

After a long summer touring Norfolk we are back home in familiar surroundings - New Victory Hall. A big shame more people didn't turn up cos they missed another really good concert.

'Autumn Concert' Stalham - 30th September 2017

Another great concert this time with Ian Clarke. A fine tribute was payed to Diana Beckley who passed away in Serbia last week following an accident - a very moving playing of 'Gresford'. Her husband Peter is a member of the band.

Sheringham 40's Concert - 16th September 2017

Brilliant concert hosted by Sheringham Salvation Army in their lovely Citadel. Never been to the 40's weekend before but what a fantastic event. Had a meal in a restaurant sitting next to a couple from Lancashire who had come for the weekend complete with 'baby' in a 1940's pram

The Crown Sheringham - 12th August 2017

Another fine day and we return to the Crown at Sheringham this time with Ollie taking the baton and without the noise of 400 Harley Davidsons

The Crown Sheringham - 29th July 2017

Our first visit of the year to Sheringham. This is the first concert under the direction of Eddie Baker and we find ourselves accompanied by 400 Harley Davidsons. We blew them away they couldn't compete and left after half an hour (It was planned)

B.B.C. Filming Wroxham - 3rd July 2017

We spent the early evening at the Norfolk Wherry Trust in Wroxham filming with the B.B.C. It was an extremely interesting event working with professional film makers, we wish we could show you more but we are unable to do so until after the programme is aired in January.

Strumpshaw Steam Museum Rally - 27th May 2017

We have played at Strumshaw several times before but this was the first time we have pleyed outside at the Steam Rally with many steam engines on view and working. Colin Sweap conducted a very enjoyable evening. Thanks to Roger Keene for some of the pictures

Spring Concert Stalham - 8th April 2017

Our concert season starts at Stalham for our Spring Concert. This was Kevin's final concert conducting the band. We wish him well with his other hobbies of photography and his work at the Sheringham Lifeboat.

Rehearsal with Glyn Williams - 31st January 2017

Glyn Williams, principal euphonium player with the World Champion Cory Band again came to join us at a reheasal. Last year he sat in and played, this year he conducted the band - reheasals just don't get any better than that.

Alzheimers Charity Concert - 29th January 2017

We were asked at short notice to play at this Charity event in Bawdeswell Village Hall to raise money for the Alzheimer.s Society. We joined bell ringers, a childrens dance group and a choir in an enjoyable afternoon and as you can see helped raise a lot of money. Ian Clarke conducted the band.

RAFA Christmas Concert - 14th December 2016

It's Stalham and it's Christmas so it must be the annual R.A.F. Association's Christmas Concert. This was the 13th time we have held this concert. This year's concert brought the total raised since the start in 2004 to just over £9,000 which has been shared equally by R.A.F.A and the band.

Academy Christmas Concert - 2nd December 2016

This year Steve is the MD as the Academy Band is again accompanied by the children of the Neatishead Primary School for it's Christmas Concert in the New Victory Hall at Neatishead.

Martham Remembrance Concert - 11th November 2016

Ludham Church - 13th August 2016

The band returned to St Catherine's Church in Ludham for an evening concert. It also saw one of the band's patrons having the opportunity to take the baton for one number.

The Crown at Sheringham - 6th August 2016

The band were made very welcome by the staff at the Crown. Could this be because it's Kevin's 'local'. The weather was really kind and the locals and holiday makers turned up in large numbers. Brilliant afternoon

Mousehold Heath Bandstand - 26th June 2016

This was our second year running at the bandstand on Mousehold Heath in Norwich. A good crowd came to support the band. The location is great for access to the ice cream van but not so good for parking. Tom organized a meal at Zaks, just across the road, after the concert which most of the players attended
