Norfolk Wherry at the 2014 National Finals

MCD_5660Norfolk Wherry Brass have just returned from a very successful week end in Cheltenham where they were invited to take part in the 3rd section of the National Brass Band Championships.

The band, under their Musical Director Andy Craze, was placed 3rd out of a total of 18 bands taking part in the contest. The winning band was from Wales and the second places band was from Scotland making Norfolk Wherry Brass the English Champions in their section, winning the Denis Wick Trophy and a cheque for £500.

The band wishes to thank the management at the Neatishead White Horse Inn for the generous donation of £90.00 for the sponsorship of one of their percussionist at the in the finals. Young Acer Smith, just 11 years old, was playing a vibraphone in the contest one of four percussionists required to accompany the 25 piece brass band playing “Symphony for Brass” by Victor Vladmirovitch Ewald arranged by Michael E. Hopkinson.
